Patrick Flanigan
Patrick Flanigan is a black belt in Kenpo Karate under the on-going instruction of
Sensei Dan Lett. Patrick has been training in the style of Kenpo for seven years. Prior to Patrick’s
karate training he had wrestled four years, boxed for three years and now has spent the last four years
training in MMA along side of good friend Matt Hughes. “My grappling would be best compared to that of
Hughes’. I am very basic, strong and am able to make the simplest techniques very effective” said
Flanigan.
Patrick is not only a student of Fujin Martial Arts but he is also the owner. “I started this dojo out
of need for a closer place to practice and to realize my dream of offering a traditional meets
contemporary place for folks to gather, practice and receive the best training available. I have a lot
of plans for the Fujin Dojo including someday building a Martial Arts University. The sky is the
limit,” said Flanigan, with strength and conviction.
Flanigan sees himself as a well rounded martial artist with a lot to learn but also a lot to offer. “If
I can’t teach you something I know one of my instructors can”. He also prefers to be recognized as a
traditional martial artist and finds his greatest interest in martial arts would be the spiritual and
health side of the arts. “I am a huge fan of Eastern medicine and also their spiritual beliefs and
outlook on life. There is always something to be learned from everyone and every culture and it just so
happens I have learned the most from my studies of the Japanese and Chinese.”
Flanigan not only owns and teaches at Fujin Martial Arts but he is also a World Champion Xtreme Sport
Shooter and hold’s eight world records in the sport. Flanigan has been labeled as a living legend and
one of the greatest shooters of our time. He has contributed his shooting abilities and success to his
on-going practice of the martial arts. “The martial arts have strengthened me not only physically but
mentally as well. Xtreme Sport Shooting challenges you both physically and the mentally in ways you
simply can’t imagine. If it wasn’t for the martial arts I sincerely feel as though I would not have
made it this far in my professional career.”
Stop in at Fujin Martial Arts and join one of Patrick Flanigan’s Kenpo Karate classes or MMA classes and
have the chance to learn from and train with a great martial artist and Fujin’s very own living legend.
